Sunset Crater Volcano is another of my most favourite places. The volcano has a stereotypical
shape with a crater at its peak, but it is unique in the area in having a coloured top. Iron
rich cinders not buried deep in ash have oxidised to give a red colour. In the afternoon
light this colouration is most evident and illustrates how the volcano got its name.
