Sage Grass, Tent Rocks State Park

Previous Photo : Photo Index : Next Photo

New Mexico is a state of multi-cultural history, deserts and volcanoes. In the Northern part of the state, ancient volcanic activity has shaped the landscape we can visit today. Tent Rocks State Park is a tiny pocket of scenic oddity located in the volcanic region. Here volcanic 'tuff' was coated by harder cap rock so that, as it erodes away, stange conical formations are created. A loop trail explores this little park of sage grass, grey earth and blue sky.
