Since time immemorial, there have been some cars that are not necessarily exotic or expensive, but have managed to strike a chord with its audience, such that, to date, they have retained their position in all lists for ‘best-selling cars in the world’ There are many reasons that contribute towards this and in this article, we have attempted to explore some of these, along with the cars themselves.
1: THE VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT:
Having sold over 15.5 million cars, the Volkswagen Passat is definitely one of the world’s most bestselling vehicles today. It has gone through over seven generations and is a perfect example of a family car, which is spacious, luxurious and affordable. This is what essentially kept it popular in the market irrespective of the various different models that were introduced.
2: THE FORD MODEL T:
It is no surprise that the ford model T is the eighth bestselling car of all times, which does not come as a surprise considering it was the first affordable and mass-produced car of its time that was accessible to the average American. Build by Henry Ford in 1908, the car has not been in production for almost 90 years now and is yet considered one of the most sold cars in the world.
3: FORD ESCORT:
First introduced in 1981, Ford has sold over 18 million escorts all over the world and has a strong set of buyers especially in Europe and America. They are currently not in production; however, there is the talk of a new model to be introduced in the near future.
4: HONDA ACCORD:
The Honda Accord first entered the market in 1976 and has sold almost 18 million cars to date. This was the first car of its kind that the manufacturer introduced in America and has remained one of the best selling cars both in the US and all over the world. It is well designed, spacious and affordable, making it a good option for a family car.
5: HONDA CIVIC: The Civic was perhaps one of Honda’s biggest hits in the market and one of the most popular cars it has ever sold. Today they have sold almost 18.5 million of this car and a good thing too, for Honda released the civic at a time when they were considering dropping out of the automobile industry altogether.
6: THE VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE:
The beetle is perhaps the longest running cars that have been in production to date. It was initially built in 1938 according to specifications set by Hitler and soon started to steal hearts because of its unique designing and low price. Almost 23.5 cars have been sold today.
